House rules
This is an English translation for reference. If there is any difference, the Spanish version prevails.
Welcome to Herradura House. These rules help your group enjoy the house in peace and keep good relations with our neighbors in Miraflores. By confirming your booking you accept these rules on behalf of your whole group.
1. Check-in and check-out
| Time | |
|---|---|
| Check-in | From 2:00 pm |
| Check-out | Until 11:00 am |
We know travel schedules don't always line up. If you need to arrive earlier or leave later, just ask: we are happy to be flexible as long as there is no other check-out or check-in booked that same day.
Access is with a digital lock and check-in is self-service. Before arrival, the main guest sends us on WhatsApp the details and a photo of the ID of each guest. We send you the code on your arrival day, once registration and payments are complete; it is personal to your booking and changes when your stay ends. For security, do not share it with anyone who is not registered.
2. Guests and visitors
- The house sleeps up to 16 guests. Only the people registered in the booking may stay overnight, because the law requires us to report them.
- At check-in we need the ID of every guest, and we keep a copy to confirm that the person registered is the person staying. Copies are handled under our Privacy policy. If minors are coming, check the documents we require in section 3.
- Visitors are welcome during the day, as long as they do not stay overnight. If someone needs to stay, they register as a guest and the rate is adjusted.
- For safety, there may be no more than 20 people in the house at the same time, counting guests and visitors.
- The main guest is responsible for their visitors and any damage they cause.
3. Protection of children and adolescents
Herradura House rejects all forms of sexual exploitation and abuse of children and adolescents. We follow the code of conduct that Colombian law requires of tourism providers (Law 679 of 2001, Law 1336 of 2009 and Resolution 3840 of 2009 of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism). See our Child protection policy.
Documents for minors. At check-in you must show the originals of:
| Situation | Documents |
|---|---|
| The minor travels with their father or mother | The minor's birth certificate and the ID of the father or mother. |
| The minor travels without their parents | Birth certificate, a notarized authorization from the parents naming the responsible adult, and that adult's ID. For Colombian minors, a letter from ICBF signed by a Family Ombudsman is also accepted. |
| Groups of minors (sports teams, delegations) | The same documents for each minor, plus the ID of the adult in charge of the group. |
A Colombian minor's ID card (tarjeta de identidad) does not replace the birth certificate, because the birth certificate is what proves the family relationship. Without these documents, we cannot register the minor or allow them to stay in the house.
During your stay:
- Minors must always be under the care of their parents or the registered responsible adult.
- They may only stay with the adults registered in the booking.
Legal consequences. Sexual exploitation of minors is a crime in Colombia, punishable by prison. Any suspicion will be reported to the authorities immediately and the stay will be ended without a refund.
If you know of a case, report it (it can be anonymous): Police 123 · Attorney General's Office (Fiscalía) 122 · ICBF 141.
4. Noise and neighbors
After 10:00 pm we don't ask for complete silence, but we do ask you to keep noise at a level that doesn't bother the neighbors or the community: music at a moderate volume, conversations inside the house and no speakers in the front yard.
The house is in a residential neighborhood facing Parque La Herradura, and good relations with our neighbors are what allow us to keep hosting you. Noise that disturbs neighbors is also regulated by Colombia's National Police Code (Law 1801 of 2016).
5. Celebrations and events
With the guests staying in the house: you can celebrate birthdays, gatherings or any special occasion, always keeping noise under control.
With outside guests: prior authorization is required. Message us in advance telling us the type of event and how many people will attend.
- The total number of people in the house cannot exceed 20, counting guests and visitors. For example, if 12 are staying, up to 8 visitors can come.
- Outside guests must leave by midnight at the latest.
- Depending on the type of event, an additional fee may apply, which we confirm when we authorize it.
- If a visitor needs to stay overnight, they must register as a guest.
6. Smoke-free and substance-free
Herradura House is smoke-free. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property, including the patio, the garden and the front yard. This also applies to electronic cigarettes, vapes and hookahs.
The use, possession or sale of hallucinogenic or illegal substances is not allowed on the property. Breaking this rule may lead to the immediate end of the stay, without a refund.
7. Pets
We are pet friendly at no extra cost. We welcome up to 3 dogs or cats per booking, of any size. So everyone is comfortable, we ask you to:
- Tell us when you book how many pets are coming.
- Keep them in the common areas, the patio and the garden. They may not go into the bedrooms.
- Keep them off upholstered furniture.
- Pick up after them in the patio, the garden and the front yard.
- Not leave them alone in the house if they bark or make noise that bothers the neighbors.
- Keep them on a leash in the front yard and in the park.
The main guest is responsible for any damage caused by pets.
8. Using the house
- Kitchen: it is equipped so you can cook freely. We ask you to wash the dishes after using them and leave the counters clean.
- Storage room: available to store luggage, gear or anything you need during your stay. It also holds a locked cabinet with house items, which is not part of the space available to guests. Herradura House is not responsible for valuables kept there.
- Power and water: utilities are included in the rate. Please use them mindfully: turn off lights and fans when you go out and close the taps properly.
- Trash: the garbage truck comes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On those days, put the bags out on the sidewalk in front by 6:00 pm at the latest. The rest of the time, use the bins in the house.
- Parking: only motorcycles fit in the front yard. Cars can park on the street or in nearby parking lots.
9. Security
- The house has two security cameras: one at the main entrance and one in the back patio. Their only purpose is the safety of guests and the property. There are no cameras inside the house, in the bedrooms or in the bathrooms. Images are handled under our Privacy policy.
- Keep the doors closed when you go out and do not share the access code with people who are not registered.
- Weapons are not allowed on the property.
10. Inventory and damage
- With the welcome message we send you a list of what you will find in the house for your group (towels, bed linen, dishes and cutlery). You have 2 hours from your arrival to let us know on WhatsApp, with a photo, if anything is missing or damaged. If we don't hear from you, we understand that you received everything complete and in good condition.
- If something gets damaged, let us know right away. Accidents happen, and telling us in time helps us solve it together.
- Damage, missing items or extra cleaning are the responsibility of the main guest. Depending on the booking, we may ask for a refundable security deposit; if it applies, we let you know when we confirm and the costs are deducted from it. Payments and cancellations are explained in the Booking terms.
11. Before you leave
- Leave the dishes washed and the kitchen tidy.
- Take the trash to the bins (or to the sidewalk, if it is Monday, Wednesday or Friday).
- Turn off lights, fans and appliances.
- Close doors and windows.
- Let us know on WhatsApp when you leave.
12. Breaking the rules
We trust your stay will be a peaceful one. If these rules are broken, Herradura House may charge the main guest for the costs incurred.
In serious cases the stay may be ended without a refund. Serious cases are: use of illegal substances, bringing weapons, unauthorized events with outside guests, hosting unregistered people overnight and repeated complaints from neighbors.
